Support for Vulnerable Groups

The Liberal Democrats are united in the belief that every individual deserves to live with dignity. But for many people in Hull there are serious hurdles to overcome before they can live independent and full lives - the pandemic has only exacerbated the problems facing the vulnerable in our city.

We will specifically fund services aimed at helping Hull’s most vulnerable groups, including those who are homeless, suffering from drug or alcohol addiction, or domestic abuse victims.

Residents have told us their concerns about homelessness, domestic abuse and some have reported they are struggling with their mental health in the pandemic. Underpinning this is a lack of access to support services for those in need. We acknowledge that when people can’t get the help they need, this can sometimes have a wider impact on communities. By investing in support for vulnerable people we aim to make neighbourhoods across the city more resilient.

The Liberal Democrats also believe that mental health should have parity of esteem with physical health – which is why we will continue to do all that we can to improve mental health provision in the city.
