The pandemic has proven people want to shop and stay local. We want to create opportunity and support communities across Hull. That is why the Liberal Democrats will invest in local shopping districts and community facilities.
For many residents, their local high street is at the very heart of their neighbourhood, now more than ever. Holderness Road, Anlaby Road, Newland Avenue, Princes Avenue, Hessle Road, Beverley Road, Chanterlands Avenue are just a few of the places home to local businesses, traders and community hubs.
The Liberal Democrats will create a Local High Street Support Scheme to help small businesses and traders promote and improve their area and offer to their local residents.
We also recognise the incredibly important role that community centres play in our communities – offering residents valuable opportunities to socialise, gain new skills and share experiences after the pandemic.
