Hull Lib Dems call for parity in funding for mental and physical health

At Hull City Full Council on 21st November the Liberal Democrat Group called for the new Prime Minister to “address the disparity between physical and mental health and resolves to address the funding crisis.”

The Motion, moved by Lib Dem Drypool Councillor Linda Chambers, noted a “record of delayed diagnosis, assessment and treatment, restrictions to access, referrals out of the city and the failure of a Crisis Team to meet the 24/7 needs.” This paints a bleak picture for the current status of mental health services in Hull.

'Time running out to tackle the climate emergency!' say Hull Lib Dems

Lib Dem Councillor Ryan Langley has called on Hull City Council to step up its efforts to tackle the climate crisis. Hull Liberal Democrats challenged the Council to declare a climate emergency in March this year.

The Liberal Democrats believe more can be done by the Council and the City. This comes after a perilous heatwave affecting mainland Europe and the devastating floods that have affected communities across Yorkshire from severe rainfall.

Lib Dems to scrap business rates to "breathe new life" into high streets in Hull

The Liberal Democrats have announced plans to scrap business rates and replace them with a landowner levy, to "breathe new life" into high streets in Hull if a Lib Dem Government is elected. 

The party would replace business rates with a commercial landowner levy, based on the value of the land only. This would take the cost off businesses and help support high streets.

"Debate her" say Hull Lib Dems

Following news that ITV News would not feature the Lib Dem Leader, Jo Swinson, in the election TV debate - Cllr Mike Ross, who is standing for the party in Hull North, has added his criticism to the exclusion.

The Liberal Democrat party, as recently as September, has received public support in poll ratings of around 23%. This was 2% above the Labour Party according to a YouGov poll taken on 18th September 2019. The Liberal Democrats go into this election with high hopes, putting forward their prospects of government and so believe they should feature in all televised debates.
