At today’s Autumn Statement, a new Devolution deal between Hull and East Riding has been announced by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.
The deal spearheaded by Hull City Council alongside East Riding Council includes:-
The proposed deal will be considered at extraordinary full council meetings in December. If agreed there, a public consultation will begin in early January, giving residents a final say on the deal.
Responding to the Autumn Statement which has seen a new Devolution deal for Hull put on the table, Leader of the Hull Liberal Democrats Cllr Mike Ross said:
“After 11 years of dithering and delay from the Hull Labour Party the Liberal Democrats have secured a deal that invests millions into the city like never seen before.
“For ten years Labour failed to reach an agreement with our nearest neighbours and as a result, the city has missed out on millions of pounds of investment. Now, we are delivering a fair deal for the people of Hull.
“This fair deal sees new funding to invest in the city’s economy, a commitment for rail electrification and massive support for private companies like Siemens.
“The Liberal Democrats have always said we will work tirelessly to listen to people and invest in Hull and with this new deal we are doing just that.”
