Community litter pick success on Jack Kaye Walk

Despite wintery snow showers, the Avenue Ward Liberal Democrat team - Elspeth McCobb, Abi Bell and Cllr John Robinson - as well as local volunteers ran a successful litter pick with on Jack Kaye Walk off Ella Street on Sunday 21st January.

The team collected 13 large bags of discarded litter from the hedgerow including two children's scooters and part of a plastic Christmas tree.

The team also arranged for the Council to clear away debris from a bin fire underneath the bridge on Jack Kaye Walk.

Last autumn the team organised a series of successful community leaf collection events. Every week over 20 volunteers turned out to help tackle the heavy leaf fall.  Now they hope to mobilise the community again to help tackle litter hot spots.
