Lib Dems will invest £59,300,000 to protect school funding in Hull and the East Riding

The Liberal Democrats have announced they will invest £59,300,000 more in schools and colleges in Hull and the East Riding over the next parliament.

The funding for Hull and the East Riding would reverse cuts to frontline school and college budgets, protect per pupil funding in real terms and ensure no school loses out from changes to funding arrangements.

£4.8million of the funding would be spent on protecting the Pupil Premium, introduced by the Liberal Democrats to help the most disadvantaged children.

Claire Thomas, Liberal Democrat candidate for Hull West and Hessle said:
"Children in Hull and the East Riding are being failed by this Conservative government. A good education gives our young people the foundation they need to be able to fulfil their potential, and yet cuts to education funding put this at risk.

"Under the Conservatives, funding per pupil is set to see the biggest cuts in a generation, while billions of pounds are being spent on divisive plans to expand grammars and free schools.

“The Conservatives don’t care about the impact on our local schools and our young people’s future- and Labour are too weak and divided to provide effective opposition.

"This extra £59,300,000 of funding would ensure no school and no child loses out.

"We will reverse crippling Conservative cuts to school budgets and invest to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.”
