Lib Dems to ask residents questions at meeting of councillors

Opposition Lib Dem councillors will be putting local residents questions directly to senior Labour councillors tomorrow.

At a meeting of all the city’s councillors, the Lib Dem will ask questions submitted directly by residents.

The questions were sent in by email earlier in the week and cover a wide range of topics.

Lib Dem Group Leader, Councillor Mike Ross, commented: "We believe that it is important for the Council to be as open and transparent as possible.

"Far too often those in charge make decisions which impact on residents lives, but those residents don't get a chance to question those making those decisions.

"While we might not share the views of all those who have sent in questions, this is an important way of helping get their views heard.

"I hope Labour councillors treat the questions with the respect they deserve and dignify them with meaningful answers rather than party-political point-scoring.

"The Lib Dems in Hull are determined to try to make those who make the decisions more accountable to residents," added Mike. “If you want to sign up to our email newsletter, and get the chance to submit your own ideas for questions in future, please email me at [email protected] and I will make sure you’re kept updated.”
