Lift Local Housing Allowance Freeze to tackle homelessness

Ahead of the Autumn Budget today, Liberal Democrats across the UK are calling on the Chancellor to lift the freeze on Local Housing Allowance (LHA), to help prevent homelessness.

A National Audit Office report found that the freeze on housing benefit is “likely” driving an increase in homelessness.

As Conservative cuts and the benefits freeze take their toll we're concerned that homelessness in Hull will grow worse.

In next week's Budget we want to see action on the Local Housing Allowance, to prevent more families and individuals being priced out of their homes.

At Full Council next week we will also be supporting efforts to lobby Government on Universal Credit, which will also put vulnerable people at risk.
