Your Views on Holderness Road Library Services

The Council is consulting on the future of Holderness Road Library and we want to make sure a library service remains in our community.

Holderness Road Library is one of the most used libraries in Hull. We are pushing the Council to ensure that services will still be accessible when the lease on the building runs out next May.

The Council is considering three alternative sites - the Balfour Community Centre, Drypool Green Community Centre (on Durham Street) and East Park. A consultation on the future of the library service is open and runs until 31st October (

In response, Lib Dem councillors Linda Chambers, Diana Hatcher and Adam Williams have launched a petition to keep a library service in the Holderness Road community.

The Lib Dem team have fought hard over the years to keep a library on Holderness Road, despite cuts to it’s opening times by the Labour Council. Adam, Linda and Diana are keen to make sure local people get a say on any future changes.

"Many people in our community rely on the services the library provides," said Adam. "We're pressing the Council to keep a library service in our area - you can back our fight by signing our petition."
