Councillors call in Police Commissioner for questioning

Hull’s Lib Dem councillors have requested that Humberside’s Police Commissioner attend a meeting of councillors later in the month.

They have called for the Police Commissioner, Matthew Grove, to attend and explain why Humberside is performing worse than other forces.

A recent report by Her Majesties Inspectorate of Constabularies (HMIC) found fault with changes made to the force by the Police Commissioner.

As result of the changes HMIC reported that there is not enough frontline police and condemned the way the force is run.

Hull’s Lib Dem Group leader, Councillor Mike Ross, said: “The Police Commissioner has a lot of questions to answer. I have spoken to many residents who have noticed a real decline in the service since the changes were made earlier this year.  Hull deserves an effective police force and people want to feel safe on the street.

“We have asked the Police Commissioner to attend the next meeting of Council. We want answers about why there are not enough frontline police in Hull.”
