At a meeting of councillors next week, Lib Dem Leader, Councillor Mike Ross will be calling for the Council to tackle racism and xenophobia.
The call comes in the wake of the EU referendum and reports of increased violence and intimidation of ethnic communities.
Councillor Mike Ross said: “I am proud to live in a diverse and tolerant society. Racism, xenophobia and hate crimes have no place in Hull or our country.
“We as a society should be doing all that we can to make hate unacceptable. That is why I will be asking the Council and partner bodies to ensure there are resources in place to tackle both racism and xenophobia.
“As elected members we have a duty to reassures all people living in Hull that they are valued members of our community.”
