Councillor calls for action over Woodford Leisure Centre closure

Linda Tock, Lib Dem Councillor for Holderness ward, has raised urgent questions with Hull City Council over the closure of the Woodford Leisure Centre's swimming pools. Cllr Tock has expressed her disbelief that Woodford Leisure Centre’s swimming pools are closed yet again and is calling for fixing the pool heating system to be given greater priority.

Woodford Leisure Centre had to close its swimming pools on Friday 29th November, after the pool heating system failed.

This closure comes at a time when Ennerdale leisure centre is undergoing a refurbishment and the city’s swimming pool capacity is already under strain.

Cllr Linda Tock is pressing for action, and has raised the matter with the council's leisure portfolio holder. Linda said:

“I am extremely concerned that after only 18 months since the pools reopened, both of the pools are having major issues. I want to know how can the Council have allowed this to happen and why are they having such major issues so soon? I am also asking when will the pools be re-opened and what will be done so this problem doesn’t happen again.”

“After having been closed for two years to get the pools ready refurbished, it is disappointing they are closed again because of this problem.”
