The Liberal Democrats were just 32 votes away from pulling off a sensational victory over Hull’s Labour bosses in September.

Swinson v Corbyn Choice

In a council by-election in the Hessle Road and Thornton Estate areas - where Labour have won comfortably for years - Lib Dem candidate Tracey Henry narrowly missed out on taking one of Hull Labour’s safest seats on the Council.

The huge swing to the Lib Dems shows how angry local residents are with Jeremy Corbyn’s out-of-touch Labour Council.

Earlier this year Corbyn’s Labour bosses on the Council blocked plans for a new ‘Crime Safety Fund’ for local communities - whilst at the same time forcing through plans for new security gates at the Guildhall - costing £250,000.

At May’s council elections the Lib Dems got more votes citywide that Labour for the first time since 2008 - winning in places like Bransholme.

The by-election result confirms that the Lib Dems are poised to knock Labour out of control locally in May. Hull is set for change – and only the Lib Dems can deliver that change.
