Hull Lib Dems call for rethink over litter plans

Following the release of new litter enforcement plans by Hull City Council, the Lib Dem group has called for a rethink.  The Lib Dem group have criticised the proposals – believing more should be done to benefit areas outside of the city centre.

Under the proposals up to 85% of the new litter enforcement resources are focused on the city-centre. The Liberal Democrats say this is the latest example of the Labour council prioritising the city centre at the expense of the rest of the city.

Leader of the Lib Dem Group on the Council, Cllr Mike Ross has raised a call for a rethink and said:

“We have grown use to the Labour council focusing all the effort on the city centre, so this latest move does not come as a surprise.  While of course there does need to be every effort to keep the centre looking smart, there should also be every effort to keep the rest of Hull clean and tidy too. We are calling on the council to think again about these plans and make sure all the residents in the city get the support they deserve.”
