Liberal Democrats in Newland
Named after Newland Avenue, a popular shopping street within the ward, Newland is bounded to its north by Cottingham Road and Clough Road. Its western half runs down to the Hull and Barnsley Railway, while its eastern half stretches down to Station Drive and across to the River Hull. The ward hosts some of the industry near the river. Newland's housing is mainly Victorian terraces. Due to the proximity of the university there is a large student population in the area.

“Goddard Avenue and Ventnor Street are the latest roads in our area to benefit from this extra investment,” said Cllr Mark Collinson. “We know that there are more roads that need this work doing,” added Mike Ross. “Rest assured that we will continue to campaign for action on the footpaths that we all know need resurfacing work.”
