One of the fastest-growing areas of the city, Kings Park encompasses the new Kingswood development and some of the earlier Sutton Park area. It stretches from the city boundary in the north to Sutton Road at its southernmost point, and from Wawne Road and Bude Road in the east to the River Hull in the west. Principal roads include Raich Carter Way and Ennerdale. In the geographical centre of the ward is the Kingswood retail and leisure park.

News in and around Kings Park

16 Jul 2010 - Double Yellow Lines on Barnes Way

Local Lib Dem councillor Carl Minns has been talking to residents about removing double yellow lines on Barnes Way, near to Linn Park. As this is a new development, he is checking the planning documents for the area to see if these lines are a necessary planning condition, or whether they can be removed. He will be raising the issue with the council's area team next week.

Carl said: "If you live in the area please get in touch if you have any comments to make." Carl's contact details are available on the Kings Park page on the Liberal Democrats in Hull web site: http://www.libdemsinhull.org.uk?kingspark.

24 Mar 2010 - St Andrews Church Roof to be Repaired

Carl, Elaine and Denis are delighted to report that the roof at St Andrews Church will be repaired. ‘The Church has been awarded a grant from the Council’s Community Initiatives Budget for the repairs to take place,’ said Carl. ‘Many community events go on in the church hall and it was vital for the local community that these repairs were carried out,’ added Elaine.

16 Mar 2010 - Bude Park Update

The refurbishment of Bude Park is advancing well, with more play equipment being installed over the past couple of months. Most of the new Children's play equipment has now been put in place. ‘This new play equipment is an excellent facility for local children,’ said Elaine. Carl and Elaine are now looking at plans for the next stage of the park’s refurbishment. ‘A consultation with local people will take place shortly,’ said Carl.

10 Mar 2010 - Police Patrols Increased

Following reports from local residents of walls being damaged in Sutton Park, the Neighbourhood Policing Team has increased patrols in the area. ‘We reported the problem to the local policing team,’ said Cllr Elaine Garland. ‘Since these extra patrols have been active a number of groups of youths have been moved on from the areas affected,’ added Cllr Carl Minns.

05 Mar 2010 - Success as 28 Bus in Rerouted

After months of campaigning from Carl, Elaine and Denis, Stagecoach have agreed to re-route the 28 Bus service around the city centre loop. The service provided vital link to the city centre for Sutton park residents, before its route was changed last year.

‘I am pleased that stagecoach have listened to local residents. This re-routing will enable many of Sutton Park’s less mobile residents to shop around Whitefriargate,’ said Cllr Carl Minns. ‘I collected many signatures from local residents in Sutton Park against the route being taken away from the city centre,’ said Denis Healy. ‘I am happy they have their bus service back,’ he added.
